Blisslight StarLite Star Projector Review
If you're looking for a galaxy lamp to light up your bedroom or living room, the Blisslight Sky Lite projector certainly fits the bill. But like any other product, it's not perfect! It has its strengths and shortcomings. Here's some important information you should consider before making a purchase.
Ease of Use
Compared to other galaxy-themed lamps, the Sky Lite projector is much easier to use! It's relatively simple in terms of design. You're not getting a ton of customizable features or performance options. That might be a bummer for some, but from an ease of use standpoint, it's excellent!
Turning the unit on is a cinch. Once you plug it in, starting the show is as simple as pressing the power button. The button is on the side of the unit. Not only that, but it's also quite big. So, you can feel around for it even in the dark.
After pressing the button, it takes a few seconds to gear up and turn on. Just sit back and enjoy the show!
Don't expect to have a super versatile light show. The projector has limited features. Blisslight prioritized simplicity and quality instead of packing in all the bells and whistles. That means you're not getting any customizable colors or light patterns.
That isn't necessarily a bad thing. But, it does limit you from setting a specific mood. All you have to work with are the core features!
The Sky Lite projector uses some innovative technology. It combines the effects of a holographic projector and diode laser technology to create a soothing scene. It's more complex than traditional lights that use simple bulbs and shadow-based film templates.
The image base is a transforming cloud of blue, which replicates the appearance of a gaseous nebula. The image shines through precision optics for ultimate clarity. The cloud looks organic and natural, which adds a nice touch of realism.
On top of that, the diode laser splashes green stars. The stars are not scientifically accurate. They are on a fixed grid pattern. But thanks to the projection's quality, you can't identify the grid as the lights scatter throughout your furniture and walls. The combination of green stars against a blue backdrop is all you get. There are no other color options or significant points of adjustment.
The good news is that the light show is pretty calming on its own. The combination of blue and green are soft enough to help young kids drift to sleep. Yet, the image is vivid enough to identify and appreciate in other applications.
Overall, the performance of the Sky Lite projector is decent. Again, it's not the most out-of-this-world light. The lack of color options limits the possibilities a bit.
That said, we do appreciate the fact that BlissLights did add some movement.
The blue holographic cloud nebula is stagnant. It doesn't move at all. However, the large-scale image does look realistic and calming. The movement from this light comes from the stars!
The direct diode lasers can rotate slowly over the nebula. The rotation adds some subtle movement without being over the top. There aren't any ways to adjust the spin speed. But the feature is beautiful nonetheless.
The projector performs well and is reliable enough to leave on throughout the night. The only problem is the lack of customization. You're limited to the calming aura of a nebula and nothing more.
What's In The Box
This model is a no-frills star projector. It's designed for simplicity.
When you pop the box open, you'll find the rounded projector tucked nicely into some protective cardboard. Other than some basic literature and a power chord, there's nothing more to see!
The power cord deserves a bit of special attention. This projector requires access to a 120-volt outlet. It's not battery-powered, so you must position the unit strategically. Unfortunately, the power cord is only three feet long. That might sound adequate, but it's relatively short compared to other options. Most of your electronics probably have considerably longer cords.
You'll quickly notice that the short cord limits your options. You have to keep it close to the wall. Fortunately, this lamp is a projector. The technology inside will splash the image across the room regardless of where you place it.
Controls & Functionality
So how do you control this thing?
Unlike other galaxy lamps on the market, this one lacks a remote control. That means you have to get up and walk over to the light any time you want to make adjustments.
On the plus side, you don't have a ton of options to fiddle with in the first place! Remember: This is a simple projector with minimal features. You're not going to find a complicated control panel. Instead, this projector has three simple buttons on the side. That's it!
The three buttons control the power, the rotation feature, and brightness levels. The brightness controls are an excellent option to have, as you can make adjustments based on your sleep preferences. For example, young kids may need softer light to doze off. Meanwhile, you might want vibrant light if you put the projector in your living room or game space. With the brightness control button, you get that versatility.
The Sky Lite projector is also hiding one additional feature: a built-in timer.
The timer is automatic. Once you press the power button to initiate the light show, the timer will start counting down. It will turn off automatically after six hours of use.
This timing feature has its pros and cons. On the one hand, it's a nice "set it and forget it" system. You don't have to worry about overheating and potential damage. Not only that, but you can rest assured that it will turn off after you or your child falls asleep.
The downside, however, is the lack of flexibility. There's no way to turn it off or set a time limit. Say, for example, that you only want it to shine for two hours. Sadly, there's no way to do that!
The BlissLight Sky Lite projector does not have any audio features or a Bluetooth speaker. It's a light projector and nothing more.
The unit is pretty quiet, though. The only moving part is the rotating laser for the stars. It doesn't produce much noise at all. Plus, you have the option to turn it off for complete silence.
When it comes to the construction quality, the Sky Lite projector is decent. It's made of plastic, which is tough enough to last regular use and an occasional tumble. The material isn't indestructible, so we wouldn't recommend using it in harsh conditions. The projector is for indoor use only, and the construction quality reflects that.
For the most part, the system is well-built. The rounded housing is sleek, and the included feet provide tons of stability. We wish there were ways to adjust the tilt of the projector. But other than that, it's a respectably built lighting device.

Blisslight StarLite Pros & Cons
The BlissLight Sky Lite has a lot going for it. The projection technology is commendable. It produces a bright and crisp show. Pair that with the beautifully designed nebula cloud and rotating star, and you have a whimsical display filled with cosmic beauty.
That said, the projector is very limited. It lacks the flexible display options that other lights have. This unit isn't the best if you want a lighting system that will effortlessly transition from a calming sleep space to a boisterous party room. It could use some improvements before it becomes the ultimate galaxy light. But if you only need the basics, it's worth checking out.
